Gottlieb Steinke immigrated to America about 1880. He worked in Milwaukee as a street car conductor, and then moved to Iowa to farm. Three of Gottlieb’s brothers immigrated also, with their mother. Chris, Fred, & Albert all came to America between 1875 and the early 1880’s.

 

Rosalie Kietzmann immigrated to America with her parents Johann Wilhelm & M.Henriette (Kunke)Kietzmann in about 1881, eventually settling in Janestown, which was a small coal mining town north of What Cheer, Iowa.

Gottlieb Steinke & Rosalie Kietzmann married June 23,1889

  They had 5 children:

Hulda, Rudolf, Robert,

Harry & Ernst

They farmed east of What Cheer, Iowa, Keokuk County

William ROBERT Steinke Married Wilhelmine “Minnie”Schreiber, 1/28/1922

They had 6 children.

They eventually farmed south of Gibson, Iowa, Keokuk County
